RAZ Grand Cannon Draft by Harry-the-Fox RAZ Grand Cannon Draft by Harry-the-Fox
For Red Alert Zero (currently on hold);
The Grand Cannon is basically a massive defensive howitzer; firing high-powered shells over VERY long distances at faraway targets;
My first version was the one of the left (basically a massive turret).
The second version on the right (a fixed gun with a 90 degree field of vision).

I'm going to do a third based on the second with some corrections; basically a forward-facing gun (handy as it means the gun won't pivot backwards and blow up a target that snuck into my base- having said that, there could be an individual upgrade to convert it into a 360 degree turret for players that want to start placing them in ambush positions!), and flanked by shielded crew stations (namely, a gunner sitting down on one side, and on the other side, a commander standing up with his binoculars).

But that's coming soon- right now I'm just finishing up a large backlog!

you should add a air-burst mode to cover a medium area (large for more experienced crew), heavy damage to infantries, decent for armoured infantries, and some scratch for vehicles. and if it is timed right, possible for hitting a air craft. anyway, just a idea :P

Not a bad idea!

and it should also have a select fire, for the players to choose from, like EMP(unlocked by researching)-stun vehicles and possibly bring down aircrafts. HE-deals some damage to its target but have a massive blast radius. AP(unlocked by researching)-drills through vehicle armor, killing its crew but leave most of the vehicle unharmed. engineers and light infantries are able to capture the vehicle. lighter rounds(unlocked by researching)-players will aim and fire these rounds, since it will have a massive range, leave a computer to operate seems a bit op XD. Ion booster(unlocked by researching)-use electromagnet to propel a round at 10% speed of light, able to hit fast moving target, act like a AP round but deastory small vehicle. remote controlled-fire and won't explode unless receive a signal from the firing crew, if the original cannon is destroyed, it self-destruct. also, is possible to trick the round to detonate.

Research- since you are adding the T4 with the new tech buildings, you might as well add this: when the lab is build, player have a choice of research better weapons and ammo for the units. the research consume resources, like money, energy or even units and structures. instead of a time count down, it have a progress bar, means it can take as long as a whole game or short as 1 minute, depend on the player's luck. when power is cut or been attacked, the research will be put on hold until power is restored or enemy is fought off. multiple research can be undergoing at the same time, but it depend on the size of experiment.

Anyway, don't think it could be all possible, so i might just wasted my time. oh well, still looking for the mod! and good work son! that is some impressive art and work you got there!

As what the other guy said, its is a not so grand cannon but it still is a pretty cool looking defensive cannon.

Not a problem; I'm stewing some new concepts (I even thought of an interesting new application for that frontal barrier as some kind of 'walkway')

Sort of like an energy bridge?

Yup!
Basically the best of both worlds- keeping the 'forward firing' rough layout but upping the design more towards a jumbo-sized armorued cannon!

Definitely- I figured a good middle ground is;

The standard GC is a fixed-axis jumbo-sized "Gun of Naverone" that can only fire 90-140 degrees forward (which actually makes life a LOT easier for base defenders not getting blasted by their own guns because the enemy sent a single terror drone into the base and merely parked it next to the conyard)!

But each GC can upgrade itself into a fully-turreted (and more heavily-armoured) classic Grand Cannon (ideal for expanding away from the base!)
