What Could Have Been

Description

Just a little something to depict a more abstract possibility of the ancient world.
A Tyrannosaurus surveys the gigantic creatures in the distance on a mild day in the plains.

The abstractions include the possibility that the T-rex had a full coat of proto-feathers (as so far apparently they hatch out of their eggs covered in feathers- and with more theropods (including other Tyrannosauridae) being discovered retaining them into adulthood, highlights the possibility that T-rex may also retain them into adulthood too). Though note there is evidence that large parts of its body (particularly surfaces on its tail) have been proven to be bare, issues of the animals' heat regulation have motivated me to consider the possibility that the animal may still have a coat. (though ultimately this is more an experiment to see what it would look like with a coat)
The patterning is based on newly discovered color and feather patterns of some much smaller (feathered) theropods.

Brightly colored Edmontosaurs (based on newly discovered TRUE colours found in the residing pigmentation of other Hadrosaur mummies)

In a landscape that is not a scorching hot desert shadowed by volcanoes- but a more typical North American landscape.
(Also note the birds).

In some ways a gigantic highlight on the recent discoveries that we can now actually gauge the true color of dinosaurs, feathered and scaled alike!

Hope you like it!

Even though this is your old work, this is a good piece. The dinosaur and also the landscape is nicely done man.
